CUSTOMER

Rocco Forte Collection are different. No two hotels will look alike or have the same atmosphere. This is because hotels must be like individuals, each with its own attractive personality. Each will have its own name, which is derived from its history, nationality or location. However, like any family they also share certain characteristics, which are the hallmarks of the new Rocco Forte Collection brand: quality accommodation, fine food, excellent facilities and, above all, dedication to the highest levels of service.

BROWNS HOTEL

Set in the heart of Mayfair on Albemarle Street, Brown's is one of the most historic hotels in London. Within a short walk from exclusive Bond Street shopping, West End theatres and St James's, Brown's Hotel was founded in 1837 to provide 'genteel' accommodation for discerning people. Brown's has always had an air of exclusivity and refinement.

THE LOWRY HOTEL

Manchester's most fashionable hotel, the award winning Lowry Hotel is ideally situated on the banks of the River Irwell in the recently-developed Chapel Wharf area on the Salford-Manchester boundary. The first five-star hotel in Greater Manchester, The Lowry Hotel makes a bold contemporary architectural statement with its dramatic, curved, glass-fronted facades that creates a light and airy feel within the hotel interior.

GUEST COMFORT LEVELS OF PRIME IMPORTANCE

Chief Engineer Phil Hillman emphasised that comfort levels were of prime importance and must remain so but at the same time he needed to reduce ever increasing fuel costs and carbon emissions.

“Space heating and hot water provision are a major cost factor in our business. Increasing gas prices together with the impact of the Climate Change Levy meant we needed to seek ways to make permanent savings that would in no way compromise our obligations to ensure comfortable temperatures and continuous hot water throughout our hotels.”

SOLUTION

MK Energy carried out a free diagnostic survey of the heating and hot water systems for both hotels. Following this they produced a detailed report recommending the installation of MK Enermatic Systems to control both heating and hot water. Phil Hillman recommended MK Energy’s proposals to the Board of Directors and these were accepted.

A series of Energy Management systems were installed and in the case of the Lowry Hotel a specialised unit was manufactured to cope with the ever increasing demands.

RESULT

Following these installations the systems were run in test mode for a period of time at the end of which savings in excess of 30% were recorded and as part of their commitment MK Energy have conducted tests periodically and the savings have remained constant.

Phil Hillman “As part of our ongoing budgets we constantly monitor our usage and we are delighted with the results achieved. I have recommended the MK System to all our other hotels in Europe and I can strongly recommend both the equipment and MK Energy as a company to any interested party.
